Speaker: Ex-Assemblyman Kite's complaint against Wheeler won't be heard
Assembly Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick informed ex-Assemblyamn Kelly Kite last week that his complaint against the man who replaced him, Jim Wheeler, will not be considered by the Select Committee on Ethics. In the letter, posted here with an analysis from the Legislative Counsel Bureau, Kirkpatrick informs Kite that the panel has no jurisdiction to consider the complaint, which involves Wheeler's residency and financial reporting.
Teachers union folks to meet Tuesday evening with Democrats
Proponents of The Education Initiative, a k a the margin tax, will meet Tuesday evening with wary legislative Democrats about the ballot initiative that could drive turnout next year. I'm told the union folks plan to be sober but not threatening, urging the Democrats, some flying to Las Vegas from the North, to get on board because of polling data that indicates it could pass.
