MY COLUMN: Heller's talking points unmask him as poseur on Bundy
Imagine hearing these words come out of the mouth of Sen. Dean Heller, who has called Cliven Bundy’s supporters “patriots” and who did not utter a critical word about the famous rancher until he began declaiming about the history of the “Negro” in America:
My latest on Bundyville and Nevada's cowboy poet weighing in
So Waddie Mitchell, Nevada's honorary sesquicentennial poet, wrote a poem that might as well have been called "Ode to Cliven." I have a response.
Clark County demands transparency
Most of the 206 med pot applicants in Clark County are LLCs. That won't help them hide investors, if Clark County has its way. Here's what has been sent to applicants:
Bilbray announces kickoff, GOP group welcomes her
Erin Bilbray has been in the CD3 race for months. But as she celebrates her "campaign kickoff" Friday with a new headquarters, the Congressional Leadership Fund Super PAC is welcoming her to the race with some folks you may recognize:
Sheriff: Bundy is "very principled" but needs to handle matter in court

Five conservative lawmakers call for state probe of BLM
You knew this was coming. Led by Assemblyman Jim "I might bring back slavery" Wheeler, Michele Fiore (of course), Don Gustavson, John Ellison and Ira Hansen are calling for a probe of the "armed incursion" by the BLM. “I don’t want to talk about what we’re not going to agree on.” – Sen. Dean Heller I have watched the Dean Heller-Harry Reid interview on "What's Your Point?" twice now. And after reading the transcript, I realized I still missed stuff. Below is a lightly edited version of the transcript with my annotations.
William Hill: Sandoval is 66-1 to be GOP nominee in 2016, 100-1 to be president
Gov. Brian Sandoval has 66-1 odds of becoming the GOP presidential White House nominee in 2016 and 100-1 odds of becoming president, according to bookmaker William Hill. So there is a chance. The unkindest cut of all: Sandoval's odds of wining the nomination are the worst of any listed except for fellow cellar-dweller Donald Trump. Sandoval also is tied for last, with the likes of Dennis Kucinich and Kathleen Sebelius, in the race for the White House. The humilation!
PACs set up to help sheriff candidate Larry Burns, boost gay rights movement
Two new political action committees filed last week are designed to boost the chances of Larry Burns in the sheriff's race and to assist the gay marriage movement: Badges for Burns would be a willing receptacle for police unions hoping to boost the ex-captain's campaign. Police Protective Association chief Chris Collins confirmed that the three cop unions are hoping to fund an independent expenditure campaign to help their man. (UPDATE: Collins said this is not the PAC they will use if they do an IE.)
