IE up with website, web ad lambasting Dondero Loop
I think I see a pattern developing. First, the Nevada Jobs Coalition, funded primarily last cycle by Gov. Brian Sandoval's PAC, went up with a site (The Justin Jones Report) and a soon-to-be TVĀ ad going after the SD9 incumbent. Now, the same group has a new site,Ā The Marilyn Dondero Loop Report, and another brutalĀ ad (this one just digital).
Murrens, MGM load up on state Democratic Party
MGM Resorts International Chairman Jim Murren, his wife and the resort's PAC maxed out to the state Democratic Party's federal account last month, records show. Jim and Heather Murren gave $10,000 each and the MGM PAC gave $5,000 to the party, which has $384,000 on hand. (The state GOP has yet to file, but my guess is the cash on hand is close to zero.) Jim Murren has long tilted toward the Democrats and even did an ad for Democrat Numero Uno Harry Reid in 2010.
Mayor Goodman rants at town hall, goes off on audience member, accuses County Commission of trying to kill stadium
UPDATED, 8:15 AM, Monday, 9/22/14: We now know who the mayor berated and questioned what he had done to "make the community a better place." Turns out a lot. Brent Mangus, who walked out after the mayor assailed him, sent me this Friday:
Is this the picture that launched a GOP state Senate?
I knew the picture of state Senate Minority leader Michael Roberson with teachers union leaders would be used in the campaign. And here it is. How many Democratic state senators and strategists' heads can explode at once?
MY COLUMN: One Nevada
Carson City, Jan.Ā 5, 2015 ā Gov. Brian Sandoval and legislative leaders today announced the āMoving Nevada Forwardā plan, a combination of taxes and reforms that they said will lay the groundwork for the stateās future.
Laxalt confuses laws, makes false statements about lobbyist support during debate
After covering politics long enough, you think you lose the capacity to be astonished. But I find, especially in Nevada, this is not so.
First ad in key state Senate race brutalizes state Sen. Justin Jones
The ad below is online and about to go on TV with a lot of money behind it, I am reliably told. It isĀ about this caseĀ in which state Sen. Justin JonesĀ worked for Sands boss Sheldon Adelson andĀ which came up when he first won his state Senate seat by 300 votes in 2012. The ad below -- people with goatees look SO sinister -- and this web page show this race is about to get nasty. He is running against Becky Harris.
New House majority leader coming to Vegas for Heck
House Majority leader Kevin McCarthy, whoĀ succeeded the defeated and resigned Eric Cantor, will be in Las Vegas next week to help Rep. Joe HeckĀ raise money. Among those on the host committee are four gaming company luminaries:Ā Caesars'Ā Gary Loveman, Las Vegas Sands' Mike LevenĀ and Station Casinos' Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta. Many well-known business doyens also are on the list. Heck is considered a solid favorite against Democrat Erin Bilbray.
