Sandoval disagrees with Laxalt's Yucca statement

It took awhile because he has been traveling and spending time with his family.

But I finally got a response to my nearly week-old question to Gov. Brian Sandoval's office about whether the governor's choice for attorney general, Adam Laxalt, is right about Yucca Mountain. That is, was he correct in this passage from a piece by the Reno Gazette-Journal's Ray Hagar:

When asked if Yucca Mountain was a good idea for Nevada, Laxalt said: “That is a policy decision for people like the governor and our legislators to sort out.”

Several commentators, including yours truly, laced Laxalt for the statement. But I wondered what Sandoval thought, and finally I have an answer, terse but quite pointed: "The Governor disagrees with the statement," his spokesman, Tyler Klimas, told me.

So Laxalt can continue digging, or temporizing, but the fact is even the most popular Republican in the state thinks he was wrong.
