General Adam Laxalt's justification for Nevada joining 25 other states in suing the federal government over the president's immigration executive action is that the state "is obligated to provide drivers' licenses" to the beneficiaries and will "suffer economic discrimination against its citizens," according to the legal document he filed Friday.
That document, attached here and filed with Tennessee, says the state "will incur costs to remediate the consequences" of the president's order and "both states will have their police powers pre-empted."
Those reasons would seem to be the justification that comports with the Nevada law that says the AG can file such actions "to protect and secure the interest of the State."
So those are the interests he is protecting and securing.
