AG hopeful Ross Miller has a new ad touting his prosecutorial credentials, using local PR specialist Paula Yakubik's story.
Secretary of State Ross Miller has an 8 percentage point lead on Adam Laxalt in the race for attorney general while Treasurer Kate Marshall has a 2 percentage point lead, well within the margin of error, over state Sen. Barbara Cegasvke in the contest for secretary of state. Those are the findings of a poll taken last month -- and before the heavy advertising began in the AG's race -- by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner, a well-known Democratic polling firm. The survey was conducted for iVote, which is...
The Lucy Flores ad below starts in Reno on Thursday, statewide Monday. She needs the name ID up North. It's the subject most on people's minds --- education. As positive ads go, it's one of the better ones I've seen. (I might have had her say her name, though.)
In a buy expected to be about a million dollars, the Coalition to Defeat the Margin Tax Initiative will begin airing three ads Wednesday. Polls indicate The Education Initiative, or Question 3 on the ballot, is winning. This could change that. A tax on unprofitable companies. The money not guaranteed to go to education. Economic studies that show job losses. Simple messages from regular folks, including a small businesswoman and a farmer. Pretty good stuff.
Good morning, everyone. I love this piece (hat tip to Steve Tetreault) that raises the possibility of Sen. Dean Heller running the National Republican Senatorial Committee while Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is up for re-election. I don’t see it, but how delicious. By the way, where in the world does that $400,000 number come from that Heller supposedly has given to GOP candidates? And his “top priority is to help Republicans take over the Senate and make Mitch McConnell the majority...
Good morning, everyone. Gov. Brian Sandoval traveled to Afghanistan this weekend to hide from a surging Bob Goodman campaign. Goodman gores to China, Sandoval to Afghanistan, Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki takes over the state. I kid. Sandoval went with a few other governors, and the RJ’s Sean Whaley was on a media call on Sunday. Premium subscribers this weekend were shown a detailed breakdown of that $486 million that the governor and his understudy have been bragging about. Sandoval's own budget...
Good morning, everyone. Three weeks from tomorrow, voting begins, dear Flashees. You are about to be bombarded by ads in the MOST BORING ELECTION OF OUR LIFETIME. I am amazed how slow it seems this close to the election. But it’s Nevada, so something goofy and/or outrageous will happen. Soon. Maybe Harry Reid can spice up the final weeks by pushing for Gov. Brian Sandoval or Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto to succeed Eric Holder? Of course it won’t happen – neither are on the...
Good morning, everyone. It occurs to me as we are a couple dfys and three weeks from the commencement of voting in Nevada that rarely have Nevadans known so little about candidates for the major races. This is a bit scary. In 2012, voters knew plenty about the top of the ticket – the presidential race, Dean Heller, Shelley Berkley. In 2010, Harry Reid and Sharron Angle, Brian Sandoval and Rory Reid were pretty well vetted. Then look at what’s at the top this cycle. Two relatively unknown...
