UPDATED: I'm reliably told the vote was 229-78. That's closer to three quarters. If Culinary and Bartenders had not abstained and voted against the resolution, it would have fallen just under two-thirds.
Only slightly amended (the last phrase) from what I previously posted.
I'm told Culinary took a pass.
Here it is:
Resolution # 3 (as amended, May1, 2012 in Committee)
RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE “TEACHERS” EDUCATION INTIATIVE

I've confirmed that NV Energy today will ask for its lowest general rate increase since 2001.
The overall increase sought from the Public Utilities Commission is .9 percent, resulting in a 1.9 percent residential monthly increase. The total amount is just under $21 million.
This is a dramatic change from 2011, when the company asked for a $250 million general rate increase, or 15 percent on everyone.
If approved, the new rates would take effect Jan.1
I hope to have Warren Buffett on "Ralston...
Indiana Gov. Mike Pence has joined Sheldon Adelson's crusade for a federal prohibition against Internet gaming, asking members of his state's congressional delegation to sign on, too.
"I believe it is necessary for Congress to restore the original interpretation of the Wire Act that prohibited Internet gambling nationwide, and I encourage you to support legislation that would accomplish this end," Pence, considered a possible 2016 contender, writes in a letter (posted here) to his DC delegation...
The race for secretary of state this year will be the most expensive in history, as outside groups will get involved. But both candidates will raise plenty of money, too. To wit:
As Rep. Steven Horsford asks Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie to probe reports of militia members harrassing Bunkerville citizens, the Bundy family is asking supporters to file criminal complaints Friday with Metro against the BLM.
"We believe that the BLM men who pointed guns at over 1,000 people on April 12th near the I-15 freeway south of Mesquite committed a criminal act and that the Clark County Sheriffs office should be required to investigate," Carol Bundy, Cliven's wife, wrote in an...
UPDATED: One day after I revealed the existence of this affidavit, Lowden filed a document in the court case trying to get it thrown out because it was initially unsigned. In the filing, which I have attached here, Lowden essentially argues that the pollster suing her is engaging in "litigation abuse" by trying to revise and refile a document after a deadline has passed.
Maybe so. But consider:
1. She realizes just how damaging her ex-campaign manager's affidavit is.
2. Remember this is over a...
Northern and southern building trades groups are passing around a resolution at the AFL-CIO convention opposing The Education Initiative.
The resolution, attached here, says "until the effects of the Education Initiative are clearly defined we oppose the passage and implementation of the measure."
The text of the resolution emphasizes that the Legislature should make tax policy and that TEI "does not clearly address" the impact on businesses. The resolution essentially is an attack on the...
