As the national media continues to regularly chronicle some national politician "evolving" on gay marriage, Nevada's governor is not joining the supposedly Darwinian progression on the issue: Brian Sandoval remains opposed to gay marriage, he told a Spanish-language interviewer in an exchange posted this week on the station's website.
Sandoval twice told Martha Saldaña that he opposes gay marriage, saying when she followed up, "As I said, marriage should be between a man and a woman."
In the interview, Sandoval also said he supports immigration reform, but did not give specifics (I have asked). And Sandoval, as only he can do, boasted about the, ahem, sunny recovery here in Nevada.
I have previously pointed out that the governor and his team clearly recognize that he was work to do with Hispanics and will court the Latino vote. He was crushed among Latinos in his victory over Rory Reid.

Here’s the great news, Nevada is the state that is recovering the most quickly in the country. Two years ago when I took office, unemployment was more than 14%, now it’s 9.6%. What pleases me most is that not only is our unemployment dropping, but that our construction industry, which was one of the hardest hit, is now one of the sectors with the greatest growth in employment. So, we are heading in the right direction.
