Assembly Democrats to Steven Brooks: You're out

That's the message in a brief statement released Thursday evening by the Assembly Democratic Caucus.

It's part of a not-so-subtle campaign to induce Brooks to take some time away from the Legislature after several weeks of uncertainty that began with a Jan. 19 arrest and culminated this week with his strange arrival in Carson City and on again/off again agreement to take a leave.

The caucus statement, which lists Majority Leader William Horne as the contact (he has been the point man and tried to shield Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick in all of this). Horne also will chair a select committee to be appointed Thursday that will investigate -- and possibly expel -- Brooks.

Here's the statement:

Assemblyman Steven Brooks no longer a member of the Assembly Democratic Caucus

Carson City, NV- Assemblyman Steven Brooks is no longer a member of the Assembly Democratic Caucus.  At this time, the organization has determined it’s in Mr. Brooks and the organization’s best interest to part ways.  The caucus encourages him to work on his health issues without the rigor of caucus business.  The ADC remains as committed as ever to conducting the people’s business this session.
